Those killed by traffic accidents have doubled so far this year in the region. Until last July 12, 45 people had died on the 2,500 kilometers of roads in the Community of Madrid in front of the 21 fatalities of the same period of 2018. The disastrous figure of our community destroys the national trend, since in Spain the fatal accidents have decreased by 10% in this first half of the year.

There is a worrying data of these road accident data due to the large number of motorists killed . Specifically, 12 people who were driving their motorcycle have lost their lives and six have been seriously injured. That means that one in four fatalities is a motorcyclist.

75% of accidents with deaths have occurred on secondary roads in the Community of Madrid, the M-219 being the road with more victims with four deaths. The maintenance of these routes corresponds to the regional Executive.

The road with more deaths in these more than six months is the M-50, with four dead , followed by the A-4, with two, according to the General Directorate of Traffic.

One in three fatal accidents has occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and 40% of mishaps have been collisions, followed by track exits and scopes.

The most tragic accident occurred last February in Pozuelo del Rey, near the Eurovillas urbanization. A 31-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, driver and companion, and a 44-year-old man lost their lives.

The Community of Madrid has 14 enclaves cataloged by the General Directorate of Traffic as Accident Concentration Sections (TCA) of a total of 136 that are located throughout Spain. Of the 14 TCAs in the region, 13 are on high-capacity roads and one on a conventional highway, in Torrelaguna. Although of the 45 dead so far this year, only three have registered in the black spots indicated by the DGT. In the last two years, those located on the roads of La Coruña and Burgos have disappeared as dangerous sections.

The Community of Madrid says that this summer will invest 23.11 million euros in improving the firm in 427 kilometers of the regional network. To make these investments, the Ministry of Transportation has conducted a study of the superficial and structural deterioration of these roads.

The firm improvement plan is included in the Road Conservation Strategy 2018-2021, in which the regional government plans to invest more than 162 million euros to conserve and improve the more than 2,500 kilometers of autonomous roads.

The actions of this strategy are being executed through five major contracts , including the aforementioned reinforcement and rehabilitation of land, to which 60.5 million will be allocated in this period.

Another of the most important chapters of road investment is that of conservation and exploitation, endowed with 61.9 million. According to Transport, this economic injection " is essential to maintain the road network in the most appropriate security conditions for users, preventing accidents and, in case they occur, minimizing the damage that may result in drivers and companions ".

For its part, the contract for maintenance and repair of structures will allow to review and leave in the best conditions the more than 1,120 viaducts, bridges and walkways present in the road network of the region, with a budget of 21.82 million euros up to 2021, while another 12.5 million will be invested in the maintenance of the traffic light and light installations of the network.

Finally, the actions of conditioning and conservation of the crossings , margins and islands will have a budget of 4.9 million, with which the margins, slopes, adjacent areas and roundabouts of the roads will be improved and maintained in perfect condition.
