In his request, the deputy invites the French government to pay attention to the rights of holders of bonds issued by Russia in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries.

“After more than 100 years, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of ruined holders (bonds) continue to demand a return on invested money. Despite the agreement of May 27, 1997, under which the government of the Russian Federation agreed to pay $ 400 million, bondholders remain victims. Of course, they were returned the money, but in most cases the payments did not correspond to the real amounts of bonds, ”the deputy’s request indicates.

The descendants of investors, as Verkamer emphasizes, intend to find out what measures the French government is ready to take in order to "pay off accounts payable and finally resolve this lawsuit."

In 1997, Moscow and Paris entered into an agreement according to which Russia paid off the debts of the Russian Empire.

Earlier media reported that about 400 thousand Frenchmen intend to get payments on bonds of tsarist times from Russia.
