• Benidorm: Five men detained for raping a woman in group
  • Teruel: A man commits suicide after killing his son and injuring his partner

Macho crime is turning 2019 in the year with more women murdered in the same period since 2011 and with a percentage of complaints four points below the historical average: as of August 6, 38 fatalities and 21% of cases of previous violence taken to the police station.

Only eight women or their surroundings had denounced who would end up being the executioner.

"Unbearable," tweeted on Tuesday the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. It was the day Rita Nicola was killed by her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Delgado , in L 'Hospitalet de Llobregat .

She had denounced him and he had a restraining order, but the man broke the court order and beat the woman to death in front of her baby. And then, Rita Nicola became the murdered number 1,013 since in 2003 the deadly gender violence is counted and in 38 so far this year 2019.

"Intolerable," also tweeted that afternoon the Vice President of the Government, Carmen Calvo.

Never since 2011 has the pace of this gender-based violence resulting in death been so high. Until that August 6, 38 women had also been killed by their partners or former partners. And the year ended very badly: 62 gender crimes in total.

Since then, until every August 6, no year had reached the 38 murdered of this: 32 (in 2012), 33 (2013), 35 (2014), 29 (2015), 30 (2016), 36 (2017), 24 (2018). And no year ended worse than with the 62 killed in 2011: 51 (in 2012), 54 (2013), 55 (2014), 60 (2015), 49 (2016), 51 (2017), 48 (2018).

The gelidity of the data reveals another disturbing. The hardest year since this deadly gender violence was measured was 2008, which ended with 76 murdered ... And that August 6 the number of crimes was the same as this year: 38.

While the crimes go up, the complaints go down. Although the statistical field is very small and one more murder can alter the percentages up or down, the accounts of this violence show that only in eight of the 38 cases of this year there was a previous complaint. That means 21%.

Official statistics include since 2006 the existence or not of complaints in the cases of women who were later murdered. Faced with the constant institutional message of "woman, denunciation", in the universe of deadly sexist violence there has never been a third of cases.

In these 14 years there have been peaks of 32% (in 2006 and 2016) and falls to 20% (in 2012 and 2013). The percentages rise and fall with such disorder that it is impossible to establish a stable trend from 2006 to 2018.

During this long period, measures such as the Comprehensive Law against Gender Violence , specialized courts, comprehensive forensic assessment units (still not in all provinces), the Viogen police monitoring system (four million cases since 2007) were activated. , 56,000 women with protection this year, 400 of them at high risk), the State Pact and a bunch of campaigns, messages and statements urging victims and their close circles to report.

But the statistical magma of complaints, at least among women who end up being killed, is almost always the same. And it gives an average of 25%. Nobody knows how it will end this year, but, for now, 2019 does not reach it: 21%. And that is the lowest figure since 2013.

And if governments and professional strata experts in sexist violence have been sending that message for so long, why does the woman not report? If you have to answer with reasons and figures, the most representative response was given by the latest Macro-Survey of Violence against Women , a work of the Government Delegation in 2015.

"44% because it detracts from what happened or says it was not serious enough. 26% for fear of reprisals. 21% because of shame. 13% because they were other times. 12% because they said the problem "It was over. 10% because he lacked his own financial resources. 9% because he thought it was his fault. Another 9% because he didn't want him to leave it. 8% because he was afraid of losing his children. Another 8% because he imagined that they wouldn’t believe it. 7% because he didn’t want his partner arrested. Another 7% because he didn’t want his children to lose his father. 4% because his own partner or someone around him prevented or deterred him. ... " The percentages exceed 100% because many women argued more than one reason. The complexity and specificity of sexist violence.

So much that also includes the one that affects the children, like the three killed by their parents so far this year, the last one this Tuesday in Andorra (Teruel). And which does not end in death, such as sexual violence, with its average of four rapes a day in Spain . The last known, in the form of a group, when five men sexually assaulted a 20-year-old girl in Benidorm .
