The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, said that the UAE is following with concern developments in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for restraint.

He stressed, in a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry yesterday, the need to follow the dialogue, to maintain peace, security and stability in the region and the region.

Gargash expressed the UAE's confidence in the wisdom of the leaderships of the two countries, India and Pakistan, and their ability to overcome this crisis through communication and constructive dialogue, away from escalation and confrontation.

Last Monday, India abolished constitutional autonomy in the state of Jammu and Kashmir by presidential decree "immediately in force."

Pakistan announced on Monday the expulsion of the Indian ambassador and suspension of bilateral trade with its nuclear neighbor, days after New Delhi canceled the autonomy of the disputed Kashmir.

Pakistan, which has ruled out the option of war with India, said yesterday it would suspend a train service linking it with India as relations with its neighbor continued to deteriorate.

In contrast, New Delhi announced to Islamabad, yesterday, that Kashmir is "an internal matter."

The Indian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, that «the recent events associated with Article 370 (of the Constitution), is an internal affair of India fully», condemning the «unilateral actions» taken by Pakistan.

"The intention behind these measures is clearly to present to the world a disturbing picture of our bilateral relations," the foreign ministry said.

India urged Pakistan yesterday to reconsider its decision to cut diplomatic ties between the two countries.
