British police are investigating the racist attack on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and included a tweet with a satirical picture of the Egyptian football star.

According to the network "BBC" British on Thursday, police in Merseyside County has already begun an investigation into the incident of racist attack on Salah by one of the fans of Everton.

The police issued a statement saying: "We are aware of a racist tweet published in relation to a football player in Liverpool, included a satirical picture of the player, and shared by others, and we will investigate."

"Hate crime will not be tolerated in any way, and those who use the Internet to target others and those who commit a criminal offense such as hate crime need to understand that they are not outside the law," the statement said.

Everton also issued a statement on its official website condemning "with all force" any kind of racism.

"We shared the tweets with the competent authorities, and we are discussing it further to understand whether this fan is known to the club in any way."

Everton are based in Liverpool, and their match with the Reds is at the top of the city.
