A man aged 50 has been missing since July 30, when he is believed to have been pulled by a landslide when traveling in his car. Police suspect it is the man's car that was found at a depth of 170 meters, but due to poor visibility in the water, it has not been possible to investigate the object more closely, according to VG.

After the incident, the police have been criticized for opening the road on which the man was prematurely, something that happened after the area was investigated by geologists. The day after the man was reported missing, the police complained that the decision had tragic consequences.

The landslide that affected residents of Jølster municipality was caused by a storm with heavy rain. Homes were destroyed and a major road collapsed, leading to the isolation of several local residents.
