The police arrested a suspect who sent a fax threatening to demand the removal of the girl statue before a large art festival in Japan, where the comfort women's girl's statue was presented.

According to the Asahi Shimbun on August 8, the Aichi Police arrested Hotta Shuji, 59, suspected of disrupting work by force, in connection with the exhibition of `` Wealth and Freedom of Expression '' at the Aichi Triennale 2019.

According to the police, the suspect, an office worker, admitted his charges.

Suspect Hotta is accused of disrupting his work by stopping the Triennale exhibition by faxing that he would obstruct the pavilion with a gasoline barrel if he did not hurry to remove the Girl Award at the Aichi Arts Center.

Governor Hidemura Omura, the executive chairman of the Triennial, says the exhibition will suddenly cease to be exhibited in the name of safety on the third day of the afternoon when right-wing suspects foretell and attack.

Governor Omura discussed the problem, saying, "There are terror notices and threatening calls, and if the situation worsens, I'm afraid it will be difficult for the visitor to enjoy it with confidence."

Recently, Aichi issued a damage report to the police.

According to investigative officials, Hotta emerged as a suspect, confirming that the fax in question was sent from a convenience store in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture.

Separately from the incident, the police arrested a man on the 7th of July, saying, “It's gasoline” in an elevator inside the Aichi Arts Center.
