India decided earlier this week to remove Kashmir's autonomy. Two days later, Pakistan chose to temporarily halt all trade and reduce its diplomatic relations with the country. Now comes new message from Pakistan that train traffic is also being stunted between the countries, and that Indian films are banned, Reuters news agency reports.

“No Indian movie will be shown at Pakistani cinemas. Drama, movies and similar content from India will be completely banned in Pakistan, ”tweeted an adviser to President Imran Khan.

India and Pakistan have been fighting for Kashmir for over 70 years, one of which belongs to Pakistan and the other to India.

Modi: Stop terrorism

Until Monday, Kashmir could, among other things, raise its own flag and establish its own laws, but now the region should instead be covered by the constitution that applies in the rest of India. Parliament in the Indian capital New Delhi has also approved a new law that divides the Indian part of the Jammu and Kashmir mountain region into two areas, to be ruled from there, writes TT.

In a televised speech on Thursday, India's Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the decision was about helping to stop terrorism and separatism in the area.

"Friends, I have great confidence that we will be able to free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism and separatism through this system," Modi said.

Modi also assured residents that the situation "will soon be normal," the AP writes. He also said that the government should take steps to create more economic opportunities for the people of Kashmir, Reuters writes.
