Like the Oscars before it, the Emmy Awards ceremony, prestigious awards of the American television, will happen this year of star presenter to animate its 71st edition on September 22, announced the organizers Wednesday.
According to Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier, this decision will allow the ceremony to devote more time to the large number of series that are bowing this year, including "Game of Thrones", selected 32 times, a record.
"If you have a presenter and an opening number, that's 15 to 20 minutes," he said in a meeting with specialized journalists.
We must go back to 2003 to find an edition of the Emmy Awards without a master of ceremonies. The case had already occurred in 1975 and 1998.
This decision to do without presenter could also be used to boost a ceremony that was often considered too slow and had disappointing audiences last year.
In February, the Oscars had also renounced a master of ceremonies, the successful candidate, Kevin Hart, having thrown in the towel after the resurgence of old homophobic tweets. The evening was a success and the audience curves were reassembled, to the great satisfaction of the Academy.
