As announced, there were many in Dayton in front of the bar where the shooting took place, but also in front of the hospital where Donald Trump and his wife visited the victims and the medical staff. Protesters waving placards with the same message and song repeated in chorus: "Do something", calling on the president and his administration to enact stricter weapons laws. Many also accuse Donald Trump of stirring up hatred with his rhetoric that is considered racist.

In front of these protesters, some supporters of Donald Trump came with flags. Insults exchanged and tension is mounted between the two camps in front of the bar where 9 people were killed.

The US president spoke with the authorities and politicians of the city, but stayed away from the crowd. A few hours earlier, since the White House, he once again promised measures on weapons, but rejecting any reform on assault rifles, the main weapons used in mass shootings.

After Dayton, the American president is expected in El Paso, Texas, where he is likely to meet a bigger protest. The shooter used some words of Donald Trump on Hispanic immigration to justify his passage to the act.
