According to information to Aftonbladet, it was at the end of last week that the police got new tracks. And on Thursday the information came from the Belgian police to Karin Eldblom, investigating officer at the Hallsberg police.

A deceased person had then been found, and the person's DNA provided a partial match on Patrik's DNA profile.

- It is a partial match, which means that we need to investigate further to see if it is really Patrik or not, says Karin Eldblom, investigating officer at the Hallsberg police, to SVT News.

Found in water

Now a contact with the Belgian police will be established. Karin Eldblom says that information about a clearer signal element awaits the person found.

- I also do not currently know if there is any crime linked to the deceased person in Belgium. What I can say is that the person was found in water.

Disappeared for over two years

Patrik disappeared on May 22, 2017. He was on the train from Falun home to his parents in Malmö, but never arrived.

Surveillance films showed that he got off the train already in Hallsberg, but then he disappeared without a trace.

- If it turns out that this is Patrik, it is not in this way we wish to find him. At the same time, it might be nice for family and friends to come to an end and not have to live in wonder, says Karin Eldblom, and continues:

- But, as I said, it's a partial match. We do not yet know if it is Patrik or not.
