Atambaev's adviser denies reports of ex-president’s detention
Former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev is in his house in the village of Koy-Tash, they could not detain him, his adviser Farid Niyazov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
In addition, Atambayev’s daughter Aliya Shagieva also states that her father is in Koy-Tash.
“My father did not run away, no one detained him, and the fact that he was allegedly safe is a blatant lie. He’s still in Koy-Tash, ”she wrote on Instagram.
As told at the headquarters of ex-president Atambayev, some of the special forces surrendered to supporters of the ex-president of Kyrgyzstan after trying to capture him.
“Part of the security forces who were in the house and stormed it surrendered to our supporters. They were taken out of the house, ”RIA Novosti was told at headquarters.
Earlier, an operation to detain Atambayev began in Kyrgyzstan, while supporters of the ex-head of state tried to prevent law enforcement officers from entering his house.
Kyrgyz police later reported the detention of Atambayev.
