Russia suggested the United States look at the 9M729 missile to save the INF Treaty
Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev said that the Russian side suggested that the United States behind the scenes view the 9M729 missile to make sure that it does not violate the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Shorter Range Missiles (INF Treaty).
It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Patrushev, the Americans rejected this offer.
“They refused it,” he said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry officially announced the termination of the INF Treaty at the initiative of the American side. Representatives of Washington said that, in their opinion, the Russian missile 9M729 violates the agreement. The Russian side has repeatedly denied these allegations.
On January 23, the Ministry of Defense held a briefing during which it first showed the 9M729 missile to a foreign military attaché.
