Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, told Emirates Today that minor traffic violations committed by members of the community unintentionally and do not pose any danger to the public will not affect drivers' benefit from the traffic violation initiative launched by Dubai Police last February.
"We cannot waste the effort of a person who has committed to six months since the initiative was launched in February, and is about to get a 50% discount on violations for a minor offense," Al Marri said. That lead to traffic accidents.
According to the requirements announced by Dubai Police when it launched the “Traffic Violations Settlement” initiative in conjunction with the beginning of the year of tolerance last February, the initiative allows drivers who have been issued traffic violations against them not to pay those violations provided that they abide by the traffic law and not commit any traffic violation throughout the year, A deduction of 100% of the percentage of violations if the driver does not commit any traffic violations in the next 12 months, 75% over nine months, 50% over six months, and 25% over three months.
Dubai Police decided to amend the condition of not committing any traffic violations, and excluded minor violations.
