Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, told Emirates Today that minor traffic violations committed by community members, which do not pose a risk to the public, will not affect drivers' benefit from the Dubai Police Traffic Violation Settlement Initiative launched in February. .

“We cannot waste the effort of a person who has been committed to six months since the initiative was launched in February, and is about to get a 50% discount on irregularities because of a minor violation,” Al Marri said. And protect them from violations that result in traffic accidents.

According to the requirements announced by Dubai Police when it launched the “Traffic Violations Settlement” initiative, in conjunction with the beginning of the “Year of Tolerance” last February, the initiative allows drivers who have been issued traffic violations against them, not to pay those violations, provided that they abide by the traffic law and not to commit Any traffic violation throughout the year, with a 100% deduction, if the driver does not commit any traffic violations within the next 12 months, 75% over nine months, 50% over six months, and 25% over three months.

Dubai Police decided to amend the condition of not committing any traffic violations, and excluded minor violations.

Al Marri pointed out that there is a directive from the Government of Dubai on the necessity of sustaining initiatives that will achieve the happiness of the public, pointing out that the positive reactions spotted by individuals against the initiative to resolve traffic violations, were able to evaluate them every three months, and determine the best possible ways to achieve its goal , Which is to reduce the indicators of irregularities and accidents, and encourage the public to commit, and mitigate them.

He explained that the Dubai Police, in coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, allowed the renewal of vehicles without paying traffic violations, to ensure the benefit of the public in practice, regardless of the amount of accumulated amounts, or periods of attachment to their cars, or the number of violations committed.

It is now possible for anyone to go to RTA registration centers and renew the ownership of the vehicle directly without having to pay any of the Dubai Police violations, from the implementation of the initiative until its completion in February.

Al-Marri stressed that this particular initiative is completely different from any previous initiatives, because other initiatives provide a reduction of traffic violations during a specific period of time, and is usually associated with events, while this initiative strengthens partnership with members of the community, and gives them the responsibility of their commitment and leadership safely on the road, and extends A long period of up to one year, after which it is studied and evaluated to determine how to renew it more fully.

He pointed out that the initiative is well thought out, so as to benefit members of the community, as each driver can now determine the amount of the amount he wants to pay for his traffic violations, the more committed, the lower the fines imposed on it, to zero if he continues to drive disciplined for a year.

Dubai Police announced that traffic deaths decreased by 31% by 20 deaths compared to 29 cases during the same period last year during the first quarter of the initiative. The traffic accidents decreased from 48,247 accidents during the first quarter of last year to 43 thousand 947 accidents.

Drivers told Emirates Today that Dubai Police surprised them three times as part of the Traffic Violations Settlement Initiative, the first by allowing them to renew ownership of their vehicles without having to pay old traffic violations, and the second when they received text messages stating that they received a 25% discount on the total accumulated violations. Third, when they discovered that minor unintended irregularities, such as wrong parking violations, and overtaking without the use of a signal, would not affect their benefit from the initiative, or reduce the percentage of discount they received since its launch.

Ali Mohammed said that he was very sad when he received a text message stating that he had violated the transgression from one lane to another without using the traffic light, especially since he is keen to abide by the leadership and has become more attentive since the implementation of the initiative, to benefit from it. To check the violation, the official was told that he had not committed any wrongdoing since the initiative was launched, but his effort was lost because of this minor unintended violation.

He added that the happy surprise was in the official's assertion that he will not need to pay the full amount of the violation, if he continues his commitment until the end of the initiative period, nor will it affect his previous record of commitment during the initiative period, stressing that Dubai Police is pioneering in such ideas Innovative.

While Nora Abdullah said that she accidentally stopped her car in the wrong position, and when she came back surprised by a traffic violation on her vehicle, which shocked her, because she was among the drivers committed to the first quarter of the initiative to settle traffic violations, pointing out that she thought to file a petition with the General Directorate of Traffic When I went there, I was surprised that she did not need it, because Dubai Police tolerates minor unintended violations and excludes them from the initiative.

Yousef Mahmoud said that he used to drive quickly, and his record contains a number of speeding violations, and the accumulation of it led to delays in the renewal of the vehicle, but immediately after the announcement of the Dubai Police on the initiative to settle the violations, and the possibility of renewal of the car without paying offenses violated the renewal, which reflected on it Psychologically, in the past he avoided driving near traffic patrols, and was always afraid of being stopped, because of the possibility of booking the vehicle, but he can drive confidently after the renewal, and in recognition of the initiative has become more eager to commit to driving.

He added that he committed himself during the first three months of the initiative, and was included in the list of beneficiaries, and received a 25% discount, until he signed the banned, as he got out of work late, and forgot to light the headlights of the car, and was surprised to release a traffic violation, which I am disturbed Severe, especially as he tries to the extent possible commitment in leadership, to get the full proportion of the initiative to resolve traffic violations.

He pointed out that he decided to review the General Directorate of Traffic, hoping to understand his position, and was surprised that the violation will not affect his traffic record in the initiative or lose the opportunity to get a full discount on previous violations, expressing his gratitude to Dubai Police, and their keenness to put forward practical initiatives to delight individuals.
