In total, experts checked more than 300 thousand batches of mineral water weighing more than 245 thousand tons.
"For the period from 2017 to the first half of 2019 ... 135 batches of mineral water were detected, with a total weight of more than 32 tons, with violations of mandatory requirements, including labeling requirements for packaging," the statement reads.
The ministry came up with the idea of labeling drinking water by means of identification, which would eliminate the possibility of illegal products entering the market.
“A consumer using a mobile application will be able to check whether a particular bottle of water is legally produced,” the CPS said.
