The gunman's sister is among nine people killed in a shooting in Dayton, Ohio, US authorities said Sunday.
The shooter was a 24-year-old white man
Megan Betts, "a 22-year-old white woman," is among the victims, police officer Matt Carper said. "It's the sister" of the shooter Connor Betts, he said. The 24-year-old panicked in a bustling area of Dayton, just 13 hours after a shooting in El Paso, Texas, killing 20 people. He killed nine people and injured 27 others in less than a minute, before being shot dead by police patrolling the area. "If they had not been there (...) we could have had hundreds of dead and wounded," said Nan Whaley, the city's mayor.

The suspect used an assault rifle equipped with high-capacity magazines, had extra ammunition and was wearing a bullet-proof vest, said Nan Whaley. His motives remained, for the time being, unknown.
