In Jakarta, some hundred million people were deprived of power Sunday, August 4 in the Indonesian capital and surrounding provinces.

In the absence of electricity, the temperature has sometimes risen. One resident testified that she was " terribly hot at home because the air conditioning was out of order ". The lack of electricity has also complicated travel. Jakarta's new express rail network was temporarily interrupted, passengers were evacuated from several trains in the network, and suburban lines were also affected.

And the motorists were not spared, the traffic lights went out, which aggravated the traffic chaos in the capital.

And Indonesians on the move have not even been able to warn of their delay, because the mobile phone network has also been disrupted.

This giant failure, which according to AFP is linked to failures in two power plants, did not create difficulties for hospitals and international airport Soekarno-Hatta, saved by generators.

Electricity was finally restored in most parts of Jakarta, nine hours after the cut began. But in the early evening, some neighborhoods remained still in the dark.
