Franky Zapata's "flying car" is due to be released before the end of the year, he told reporters on Sunday after his successful attempt to cross the English Channel in "Flyboard".

Now, "I have my flying car to finish, it has to come out before the end of the year, so we'll come home, take a little vacation, and then, with the whole team, get back on track. that it is ready in time, "he told reporters who were waiting for him in Calais when he returned to France.

The car "must go in paint, bodywork in the coming days ...". "The chassis is already flying" but, for now, "the flying car has no flight authorization" from the DGAC, he said a little later at a press conference in Sangatte .

This authorization should "arrive in the following days".

"The base of the flying car has already flown but in version four engines.The version with ten engines will fly in the days to follow," he said.

This car, made as his "Flyboard" in the workshops of his company Rove (Bouches-du-Rhone), should eventually fly "in 300-400 km / h" over distances of "100-120 km".
