For four days, aviation extinguished fires in Siberia on an area of ​​753 thousand hectares

According to the defense department, on 4 August, the Il-76 made 24 sorties and dropped 1008 tons of water on burning forests.

“Mi-8 army aviation helicopters made 37 sorties and 130 water discharges with a total volume of 650 tons. During the day, 303 thousand hectares of burning forests were extinguished, 56 open fires were eliminated, ”the ministry noted.

Earlier, the first deputy head of the Emergencies Ministry of Russia, Alexander Chupriyan, arrived in the Irkutsk region to organize activities to extinguish forest fires in the region.
