She said that the UAE's presence in a dry desert environment characterized by water scarcity necessitates adapting to climate change and promoting and developing activities and actions in this area.

The simple changes in climate and weather patterns could adversely affect the economic, environmental and social well-being of the state, and consequently the development process, if it is not initiated to deal with them effectively. The sectors most affected by climate change in the country are aquatic and coastal ecosystems, dryland ecosystems, buildings and infrastructure, agriculture, food security and public health, she said. The National Climate Change Plan is the national comprehensive framework for managing the causes and effects of climate change and aims to manage country-level greenhouse gas emissions, reduce risks and improve resilience to climate change, and promote economic diversification through innovative solutions, in collaboration with the private sector.

In a series of tweets on Twitter, the ministry said climate change negatively affects human health and quality of life, causing malnutrition, respiratory disease, heart disease and allergies, with increasing pollution.

She pointed out that 90% of the world's population breathe polluted air, causing about seven million deaths annually, stressing the need to invest in reducing pollution, worldwide, "because every dollar spent in this regard, provides 30 dollars of the cost of treatment Health ».
