TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has submitted a request to Saudi Arabia to open an "interest-care bureau" or an Iranian consulate in Saudi Arabia in preparation for the resumption of Umrah flights, Iranian media reported.

Rashidiyan said in an interview with the Saudi minister of Hajj yesterday in Saudi Arabia that the security of Iranians during Umrah and the preservation of their dignity is one of the most important conditions of Tehran to resume Umrah trips.

ISNA news agency said the Saudi hajj minister welcomed the resumption of Umrah flights from Tehran and asked Iran to submit its request through Switzerland as a sponsor of Saudi interests and he would follow up on the matter himself.

Iran has suspended Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia in 2015 after allegations of harassment of two Saudi security men by Iranian teenagers at Jeddah airport.
