According to the document, the period for consideration of applications for the right of temporary residence in Russia will be reduced from six to four months, reports RIA Novosti.
In addition, a temporary residence permit will be granted to certain categories of foreigners without quotas.
In particular, the norm will be extended to citizens born in Russia, married to a Russian citizen, to refugees or granted temporary asylum in Russia.
Putin also approved a law on increasing the amount of state duty for issuing a residence permit to a foreign citizen or stateless person from 3.5 thousand to 5 thousand rubles.
Earlier, Putin signed a law allowing car owners to independently obtain license plates directly from the manufacturer.
