The studio behind the augmented reality game, Niantic, has announced that "Pokémon GO" has passed the billion downloads mark.

Remember, it was in the summer of 2016, the phenomenon Pokémon GO landed on our smartphones and managed to conquer 500 million apprentice trainers in just two months. But the growth of the game has weakened and the game developed by Niantic was dethroned by Clash of Clans on the App Store only 74 days after its launch. Despite this setback, the video game studio announced in a YouTube video that it has reached a billion downloads, reports France.

The second most profitable mobile game

It took almost three years for the game to double its number of downloads. But while mobile gaming is no longer the most cost-effective smartphone available, it has still generated $ 2.65 billion in revenue ($ 2.39 billion) since its launch and could well pass the bar of three billion (2.7 billion euros) by the end of the year. Figures that, if they are lower than Clash of Clans , are far ahead Candy Crush , which caps 1.86 billion revenue.

A certain success, which has also pushed Niantic hunted fans of another saga: Harry Potter. But as Les Echos reminds us, the launch of Wizard Unite , last June, did not have the same success as its big brother, and has reported for the moment "only" 12 million dollars (10.8 millions of euros). Far from the 300 million generated by Pokémon GO in a few weeks after its launch.
