While tension has not subsided in the week in Hong Kong, several protests against the local government are expected this weekend and a general strike is expected Monday in many public services. But tonight Hong Kong officials are called to meet, for the first time since the beginning of the movement started two months ago now

This is the first time that Hong Kong officials have demonstrated against their own government. Some 2,000 of them are expected this Friday night at Charter Garden, a park located in the business district. They had already threatened to take to the streets in the aftermath of July 21, the date of violence by members of the pro-Beijing triads in the north of the archipelago. These attacks on pro-democracy protesters and lambdas citizens shocked public opinion, while the police took almost 40 minutes to intervene.

Demonstrations expected this weekend and a general strike Monday

The officials have therefore implemented their threat and will gather tonight to protest not only against their own government but also against police violence while clashes between police and demonstrators continue to intensify over the weeks .

But civil servants are not the only ones to mobilize. Yesterday, a thousand Hong Kongers working in finance marched to claim freedom in the archipelago too. And several trades have made similar calls for this weekend. The highlight of these demonstrations is expected Monday: a general strike is expected and it should mobilize some of the public services of the city.

The government recalled that civil servants had a duty of neutrality and loyalty to the executive, threatening the participants with possible sanctions.
