“The Accounting Chamber on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation conducts continuous monitoring of the situation with forest fires. In the first six months of 2019, 7.6 thousand forest fires arose, the cost of damage from which amounted to 2.4 billion rubles, ”says the department’s Facebook page.

It is clarified that according to the results of the latest inspections, the main reasons for the current situation are the Accounting Chamber considers the lack of funding, the lack of necessary equipment, the lack of manpower of ground and air security units in the regions and the poor quality of fire prevention measures conducted by tenants.

"The problem of forest fires requires a comprehensive solution, which will prevent the uncontrolled spread of fires, economic and environmental losses," the ministry stressed.

Earlier, the Emergencies Ministry called the cause of the spread of fires in Siberia.

On August 1, the State Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory decided to initiate a criminal case under the “Negligence” clause against officials of the regional Ministry of Forestry in connection with forest fires.
