FSB officers stopped the activities of the terrorist cell, whose members planned to attack the military unit near Vladimir. This was reported by the press service of the UFSB in the Vladimir region.

“The organizer of the criminal group intended, with the help of accomplices, to carry out an attack on a military unit in order to seize weapons and ammunition,” TASS reports.

The leader of the terrorists was a resident of the Vladimir region, born in 1999, who managed to detain him in cooperation with the FSB department in the Ryazan region. A criminal case was instituted against members of the group in accordance with Part 1.1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code "Assistance for terrorist activities", the maximum penalty for it is life imprisonment.

All persons involved in the case are detained. In their regard, a preventive measure in the form of detention, added to the regional FSB.

In recent months, security forces have prevented a number of terrorist attacks in different regions of Russia. On Wednesday, July 31, militants were arrested on the territory of Tatarstan who were preparing an attack on one of the republic’s infrastructure.

Two detained taxi drivers from Nizhnekamsk, Ruslan Shamshutdinov and Ilshat Zainagutdinov, were preparing a mass poisoning of law enforcement officers and the seizure of hostages, the investigator said at a meeting of the Vakhitovskiy court in Kazan in this case. According to the investigation, the defendants planned to seize law enforcement officers, find out their official information, and then kill them.

“Shamsutdinov together with Zainagutdinov applied vigorous actions to incite the inhabitants of the city of Nizhnekamsk to commit terrorist acts on the territory of the Russian Federation in the interests of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (banned in the Russian Federation), as well as in the procurement of poisons for poisoning departmental canteens of the MVD and FSB systems” - stated the investigation.

As previously reported, during the detention of the terrorists seized explosives and components of explosive devices.

Counter Terrorism Financing

Also on Friday, August 2, it became known that a court decision was being passed in the case of Kerim Shaikhvaliev, a resident of Dagestan, who was accused of raising funds for the Islamic State * and attempting to participate in an illegal armed group (IAF).

“The defendant was found guilty and he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 17 years in a strict regime penal colony,” the press service of the North Caucasus District Military Court reported.

It is reported that in 2016 a man organized a fundraiser for the "Islamic state" * and soon collected more than 119 thousand rubles. Of these, 55 thousand he managed to transfer to the bank cards of IG members *.

In 2018, Shaykhvaliyev was convicted of attempted participation in an illegal armed group. He planned to go to Syria, but was detained by law enforcement agencies and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

On July 16, the North-Caucasian District Military Court sentenced another resident of Dagestan to six years in prison for promoting terrorism. It is reported that a native of Azerbaijan, Eric Shabanov, transferred 30 thousand rubles to the “Islamic State” in 2016.

In June, searches related to the financing of terrorism were carried out in several Russian regions, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Petrenko, reported.

Investigators found out that from 2014 to September 2017 a group of Russian citizens organized financing for the “Islamic state” * from Syria. To this end, they attracted residents of Dagestan, who in turn established a fund-raising for almost the entire country.

As a result, they managed to collect at least eight million rubles from more than 200 people from the North Caucasus, Southern, Central, North-Western, Siberian and Ural federal districts. The collected money was promptly forwarded to the militants through bank cards and payment systems.

Searches related to this case were carried out on the territory of Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, the Astrakhan Region, the Stavropol and Krasnoyarsk Territories and the Republic of Dagestan.

As a result of the investigative measures, two persons were detained, charged under Part 1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code "Assistance for terrorist activities."
