Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the investigation into the death of journalists in the CAR
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the investigation into the death in the Central African Republic (CAR) of journalists Orhan Jemal, Alexander Rastorguev and Kirill Radchenko.
The ministry stressed that the investigative actions are under the control of the Russian leadership.
This issue is regularly addressed in contacts with representatives of the CARs, the Foreign Ministry said. In addition, relevant requests were sent through diplomatic channels to the CAR Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
The ministry drew attention to numerous questions to the organizers of the Russian trip.
“So, the CAR embassy in Moscow was misled about the true purpose of the group’s visit and issued tourist visas. Radchenko, Jemal, Rastorguev worked in the CAR without proper accreditation, permission to import the shooting equipment and conduct the shooting, ”the message says.
The Russian Embassy was not informed about the arrival of journalists, nor about the purpose of their trip, which could assist the Russians in terms of security, the diplomats added.
In February, the Prosecutor General’s Office sent additional requests to the official bodies of the Central African Republic in a criminal case.
Journalists died as a result of an attack by unknown persons in the Central African Republic on July 30, 2018.
