Guterres urged Russia and the United States to extend START III

He stated this during a press conference.

“I strongly urge the United States and the Russian Federation to extend the so-called START III treaty,” the UN Secretary-General quotes Interfax.

In early July, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the START III treaty expires in early 2021.

He noted that Moscow still does not see Washington’s readiness to discuss the extension of START-III or the development of a new agreement.
