In the US, proposed to provide in the budget new sanctions against Russia

Senators in the United States proposed that the military budget provide for the possibility of expanding sanctions against the energy, banking and defense sectors of Russia in the event of Moscow’s “interference” in the American elections.

The initiative was made by senators Marco Rubio and Chris van Hollen.

“By stating that sanctions will be a consequence of future intervention, we will create a more significant deterrent effect than if we punish them in advance,” the senators said.

In particular, the new bill proposes to introduce additional sanctions against Russia's sovereign debt only if repeated interference with the elections from Moscow is proved.

In addition, it is proposed to introduce restrictive measures against the energy, banking and defense sectors of the Russian economy, as well as to include in the black list "oligarchs and high-ranking political figures" who, according to Washington, may be involved in illegal "influence" on US electoral processes .

Earlier, congressmen Eliot Engel and Michael McCaul demanded that US leader Donald Trump impose new sanctions against Russia because of the Salisbury incident.
