Dozens of Palestinians were suffocated after Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas canisters at hundreds of Palestinians during Friday prayers in the Wadi al-Homs neighborhood of Sur Baher village, south of Jerusalem.

The situation escalated into confrontations between the occupation forces and Palestinian youths following the prayers held on both sides of the separation wall in Wadi al-Homs in solidarity with the Palestinian families whose homes were demolished last Monday and to condemn the policy of the occupation authorities to demolish Palestinian homes.

"Praying over the land threatened by the occupation and the destruction of the destroyed houses is an affirmation of the right of our legitimate people to their land and not to neglect it," Khatib said on Friday.

"What we need today is the return of national unity and the embodiment of all the meanings of love among the people of the same people," he said.

For his part, said the head of the resistance wall and settlement minister Walid Assaf "assembly and prayer is a message of protest against the crime of the occupation of the demolition of dozens of homes in Wadi Al-Homs."

Assaf added that "the crime of the occupation will not go unnoticed, and the battle in which a round is a comma and things will not remain as they were in the past, and from this place we confirm that our struggle and our peaceful struggle will continue and will not allow prejudice to Jerusalem and its buildings and its inhabitants."

On Monday, the Israeli occupation forces demolished buildings in the Wadi al-Homs neighborhood in the town of Sur Baher, south of occupied Jerusalem, under the pretext of their presence in a security zone near the Israeli wall that isolates Jerusalem from the occupied West Bank.
