"In connection with the decision of the British media regulator Ofcom to impose a fine on the Russian TV channel RT, we expect the response of the relevant mechanisms of the Council of Europe to the next attempt of the British authorities to limit the activities of the Russian media in the country," the Twitter post said.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the amount of recovery imposed by RT allegedly for “insufficient impartiality” raises questions.

According to the agency, the fine to the Russian TV channel exceeds similar penalties in relation to other media outlets that were accused of inciting hatred and violence.

RT called the decision Ofcom outrageous.

In December 2018, the results of the Ofcom investigation were announced, which considered that RT had violated the broadcasting code in seven episodes.
