A Chinese child accidentally found dinosaur eggs during a summer vacation.
The 11-year-old boy found what he thought was a "strange stone" while he was near a lake in Huyuan, Guangdong Province, but when he took a closer look, he thought it might be a dinosaur egg. Discover 11 eggs for dinosaurs.
Experts said that the eggs are three inches long (9 cm), while the age of about 66 million years, and belongs to the late Cretaceous.
The boy, Zhang Yang Chi, says he was trying to find something that could break the walnut when he encountered the "special rock." After discovering some circles, he called his mother for a look.
"I thought it was a cement ring at the beginning, and later I asked my mother, Li Xiaofang, to look at her and I thought the rock was like dinosaur eggs," he said.
Zhang said he realized this shape after seeing similar fossilized eggs in the museum.
"I learned this knowledge in books and in the cultural corridor of the school," he said. "I've seen it in museums, the eggs of different dinosaurs have different forms."
I decided, immediately, to inform the authorities. Experts from the Jehuan Museum of Dinosaurs confirmed that our found eggs are already dinosaurs and they began drilling at the site and the eggs were moved to the museum so further tests could be conducted to determine the egg type.
This is not the first time dinosaur eggs have been found in the city. In 2015, workers found 43 fossilized eggs.
The Huawan Dinosaur Museum says it has more than 10,000 eggs and boasts the world's largest collection of dinosaur eggs.
