Huawei, a Chinese telecom equipment company designated by the US government to restrict transactions, has been secretly involved in building and maintaining North Korea's commercial wireless network, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

The US government is expected to raise the level of the Huawei offensive because it indicates the possibility of violating US sanctions against North Korea.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Huawei secretly helped build and maintain North Korea's commercial wireless network, quoting sources familiar with the document and the situation.

Huawei has conducted several projects in North Korea for at least eight years in partnership with Chinese state-owned company Panda International Information Technology, which makes it hard to see Huawei's involvement, the Washington Post said.

According to the Washington Post, Huawei, who has used US parts, has been questioned whether it has violated US export controls for North Korea by providing equipment to North Korea.

I also hope that countries in the West will deepen their concerns about whether to exclude Huawei partially or wholly in building a fifth-generation mobile communication network.

In particular, the Washington Post noted that the allegations were raised before the US-China trade negotiations and the North American business negotiations.

"Huawei is fully committed to complying with all laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which we operate, including all export control and sanctions laws of the United Nations, the United States and the European Union," the Washington Post said.

The Panda International Information Technology has declined to comment, the Washington Post said.
