The Guinean teacher-researcher, beaten in Rouen on Friday night, died on Saturday of his injuries. His relatives denounce a racist crime.

The suspect is 29 years old and Turkish, police sources told AFP. The man would also have a psychiatric history and would be known for narcotics problems.

He was found through video surveillance and hearing witnesses.
The suspect's hearing should allow to know more about the motive of the aggression.

According to witnesses, he shouted " dirty blacks, we're going to fuck you tonight ". This is undeniably a racist crime, says the family lawyer, who also emphasizes the violence of the attack, since Mamadou Barry was beaten with fists and bottle. On the other hand " nothing allows to establish that it is in connection with the final of the CAN, " says Master Haddad.

The family calls not to amalgam

Indeed, since the announcement of the death of Mamadou Barry and despite the calls of his relatives not to amalgam, some personalities or quidams had pointed the finger at the supporters of Algeria, the aggression took place 20 minutes before the final of the Africa Cup of Nations between Senegal and Algeria.

If it is now established that the suspect is not Algerian, it remains possible that football was used as a pretext for aggression. Besides the words attributed to the suspect could refer to the match, the man was wearing the jersey of an Istanbul club.

However, some sources say he has a psychiatric history. We must wait for further investigation.

■ Long live emotion in Guinea

In Guinea, the case made the front page of the press and the tributes multiply. The portrait of Mamoudou Barry, with his smile on the corner, also floods the social networks. Anyone who has logged in this weekend has discovered the face of the young law doctor who died less than a month after supporting his thesis.

Sadness, disgust, but especially " anger " against a crime " undoubtedly racist " to use the words of the family lawyer. " A people is mourning their son, " says one user. A friend describes a " good, studious and pious man. "

In a statement, the President of the Republic said he was " very touched by the murder of the young man " ensuring that the government was " closely watching investigations in progress " in France. " Alpha Conde will meet with the ambassador of France [...] for the follow-up ," announces the presidency.

Ambassador Jean-Marc Grosgurin is already assuring that " everything is done to ensure that justice is done " in the words of the French Minister of the Interior.

" Sport must remain a moment of sharing and fair play, " said opposition leader Cellou Dalein Diallo. Outrage is spreading across borders as Senegalese President Macky Sall has since Sunday condemned " the heinous crime perpetrated against Mamoudou Barry ".
