The Guinean teacher-researcher, beaten in Rouen on Friday night, died on Saturday of his injuries. His relatives denounce a racist crime.
The suspect is 29 years old and Turkish, police sources told AFP. The man would also have a psychiatric history and would be known for narcotics problems.
He was found through video surveillance and hearing witnesses.
The suspect's hearing should allow to know more about the motive of the aggression.
According to witnesses, he shouted " dirty blacks, we're going to fuck you tonight ". This is undeniably a racist crime, says the family lawyer, who also emphasizes the violence of the attack, since Mamadou Barry was beaten with fists and bottle.
