A picture of the main entrance to the Basra Museum appears on the roof with the words "Saddam Fakhr al-Arab", which sparked a debate among activists between the demands of removing the inscription and rejecting it.

It is noteworthy that the Basra Museum was previously one of the presidential palaces in the era of President Saddam Hussein, and had opened the museum earlier this year and displays hundreds of valuable artifacts.

Reactions to the inscription glorifying Saddam were different. While some called for the phrase to be erased, others considered it a part of history and it was not harmful to its survival.

"The inscription of Saddam remains the memory of the anniversary," said Facebook activist Rashid al-Zobaie.

Participants also pointed out that Saddam's name was in all of his palaces.

"The Basra Museum of Civilization is raising the veil of the Arabs," commented Sara.

The Iraqi - who did not identify himself - commented, "the statement of Saddam Fakhr al-Arab, is still carved on the roofs of the Museum of Basra, despite the passage of about 16 years after the end of the era of the former regime."
