The Vieilles Charrues festival, which closes its doors Sunday evening in Carhaix (Finistère), will have welcomed in four days 270,000 spectators for its 28th edition, announced the organizers, a little less than in 2018.

The vast plain of Kerampuilh, at the gates of Carhaix (Finistère), was trodden by "270,000 festival-goers, including 220,000 paying admissions," according to a statement.

Attendance is down compared to 2018 when the Vieilles Charrues attracted more than 280,000 people.

According to Jérôme Tréhorel, General Manager of Vieilles Charrues, "the success of a festival is not only measured by attendance: there is also the strength and authenticity of the project, the spirit and values ​​of solidarity, sharing and territorial anchoring, live together a moment of exception ".

The organizers recall that the festival is "100% associative", receives no subsidies and works with the support of more than 7,000 volunteers. Its budget amounts to 17 million euros.

This year's carnival-themed program featured a plethora of artists including Iggy Pop, Booba, Zazie and Jamel Debouzze, as well as Aya Nakamura, Tears for Fears, Christine and the Queens, Martin Garrix and David Guetta. Jeanne Added or Hubert-Felix Thiefaine and Boulevard des Airs.

The festival is already meeting next year from 16 to 19 July 2020 for the 29th edition.
