A record score for the party of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, early elections, according to polls at the end of the polls. 43.9% of Ukrainian voters seem to have given carte blanche Sunday to their new president, the former comedian in politics.

While the polls at the end of the ballot box show only half the seats in the unicameral Parliament, it allows Volodymyr Zelensky to consolidate his power and announces a major renewal of the elites.

Immediately after the announcement, which covers half of the seats filled by proportional representation, Volodymyr Zelensky has set as the "priorities" of power the end of the war with the pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country and the fight against corruption.

End the war

"We are grateful to the Ukrainian people for this support (...) We will not let the Ukrainians down," he told the headquarters of the electoral staff of his party.

"You know our main priorities (...) as for every Ukrainian, it is to put an end to the war, to bring back the prisoners and to defeat the corruption", he affirmed, before inviting the party Golos (Voice) to negotiations for the formation of a ruling coalition.

Four other parties are expected to cross the threshold of 5% of the vote necessary to enter the Parliament, according to this poll conducted at the exit of polling stations by the consortium "Exit Poll National" bringing together three institutes.

These are the prorusses of the Opposition Platform (11.5%), followed by three pro-Western formations: European Solidarity of former President Petro Poroshenko (8.9%), Fatherland of the former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko (7.6%) and the party Golos (Voice) founded only in May by the Ukrainian rock superstar Sviatoslav Vakarchuk (6.3%), invited to negotiations by Volodymyr Zelensky.

The turnout was 49.79% when the polls closed at 1700 GMT. The first official results are expected Monday morning.
