Trump told the White House that he met with reporters to discuss the situation in which the conflict between Korea and Japan has worsened.

He said he was asked to get involved with President Moon Jae-in saying that friction is ongoing with trade.

[Trump / President: There is a conflict between Japan and South Korea in progress. In fact, the Korean president has asked me if I can get involved.]

I did not say when and how I received the request.

"Japan has something that Koreans want, and if they both want to, they will get involved," Trump said. "I hope the two nations can solve it."

[Trump / US President: If both of you want to get involved. Involving Japan and South Korea is very difficult. They will be there if they need me. Hopefully they can solve it.]

Trump's public comment on the Korea-Japan conflict seems to indicate that he does not want any further deterioration.

However, if both sides want to participate, they will analyze the situation rather than take a role in resolving conflict immediately.

The next week, White House National Security Adviser John Bolton is expected to visit Korea and Japan in turn.
