Two days after the abduction of the head of the Tripoli Food and Drug Control Center on July 16, a parliamentarian was kidnapped in Benghazi. The disappearance of Siham Sergewa has been denounced by both the United Nations and Western officials.

Siham Sergewa, known for her frankness, was kidnapped by an armed group while she was at home in Benghazi, in the east of the country. Her husband who was trying to intervene was violently beaten and injured.

The girl's daughter claims on Facebook that the men who kidnapped her mother belong to a deputy brigade of the ANL, the Libyan National Army. According to her, " nine young people dressed in military fatigues and four older, dressed in jellabas and carrying long beards " were present during the aggression.

It also states that " cars of the Libyan army's 106th Brigade " led by Khaled Haftar, the Marshal's son, were in front of their house. On photos of the house and car of the elected, ransacked, also broadcast by his daughter, we can see slogans like " the army is a red line ."

For the moment, the authorities of eastern Libya remain silent. For the UN mission in Libya, " silencing the voices of women in decision-making positions will not be tolerated ." Siham Sergewa had participated the day before in a televised debate where she had criticized Khalifa Haftar's offensive in Tripoli denouncing the bloodshed in Libya. His telephone call, live, was brutally cut off.

Recurring phenomenon

Two days earlier, Mohamad Hassan el Machaye was leaving his parents' home in the Abu Slim neighborhood of Tripoli when he was violently abducted. This district is controlled by the militia of Ghnewa el Kikli, loyal to the Ministry of the Interior.

The family of this official says he was injured in the leg and holds the Minister of the Interior responsible for his safety. It calls on the national unity government to act to free him. But this one, dependent on the militias, always keeps the silence.

For the family, the abduction of Mohamad Hassan el Machaye is directly related to the nature of his work. The center he manages controls the export of food and medicine. He has recently intervened on several occasions to prevent the access of expired products to the local market.

The Machachia tribe, from whom this leader comes, threatens to wage a war against the militia responsible for this kidnapping if his son is not released. She called on Western authorities to take positions similar to those taken to free parliamentarian Siham Serguewa.
