Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash said that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are always committed to their humanitarian commitments to Yemen.

"The UAE and Saudi Arabia are among the largest donors of humanitarian aid in Yemen, and they are always committed to their commitments to the Yemeni people," Gargash said in a tweet on his Twitter account.

"Last year, their joint pledge of $ 930 million was paid in one grant, the largest in the history of the United Nations," he said.

He pointed out that «Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are currently working with the United Nations mechanisms to implement the commitment of 2019 to ensure the maximum benefit to the Yemeni people».

He revealed that «total UAE assistance to Yemen since April 2015 exceeds $ 5.5 billion». Both the UAE and Saudi Arabia pledged $ 750 million at a UN conference in February that sought to raise $ 4 billion.

The Emirates Mission to the United Nations said that the UAE is currently working with the United Nations on the details of the commitment of 2019, to maximize the benefit of the Yemeni people, adding that it has provided aid to Yemen worth $ 5.5 billion. Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United Nations, Abdullah al-Maalami, said the kingdom had paid more than $ 400 million to the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations this year. "Saudi Arabia alone paid more for Yemen in 2019 than any other donor," he told reporters.
