25-year-old Pauline Ranvier qualified for the semi-finals of the World Fencing Championships in Budapest, defeating Japanese Yuka Ueno 15-under-11 to give the France team their first medal in Hungary .

For her first semifinal world, Ranvier will have to face one of the references of the weapon in the last ten years, the Italian Arianna Errigo (world champion 2013 and 2014).

World vice-champion last year and N.3 world, Ysaora Thibus did not pass the stage of the knockout stage, beaten by the Chinese Huo Xingxin (13-12) to the sudden death.

With the sword, reigning world champion Yannick Borel lost in the quarterfinals to Italian Andrea Santarelli (15-12), failing a second consecutive world podium.
