Four US policemen have been fired for trying to cover a burr in Chicago, announced Thursday, July 18 the police. In 2014, one of their colleagues shot a black teenager and his death sparked protests in the third largest city in the United States.

The video of his death had made Laquan McDonald one of many symbols of police violence in the United States and sparked months of protests in Chicago .

The images, released a year after the facts, show a white policeman shoot at the 17-year-old black who, armed with a knife, stands several meters away. In total, the policeman fires 16 times and empties his loader on McDonald's, however on the ground.

For this murder, Jason van Dyke was sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2018, but his colleagues, who were also prosecuted for protecting him by concealing evidence, were released. Finally, the Chicago Police Council almost unanimously decided to dismiss them for lying by writing false reports. This is to exaggerate the threat represented by McDonald's.
