Tiger Woods, crowned at the Masters in April for the 15th time in his Grand Slam career after eleven years of scarcity, was eliminated at the Bristish Open in the company of Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy on Friday after the Tour on the Portrush course in Northern Ireland, where the American JB Holmes was led by Ireland's Shane Lowry.

Holmes, 37, whose best result at the Open was third in 2016, returned a card of 68 after an initial 66 for a total of 134, or 8 under par. He was joined by Lowry, 32, and 9th in the British in 2014, who returned a 67 as Thursday.

American Brooks Koepka, N.1 world and already winner of four majors, is in ambush at -5 (137), along with his compatriot Jordan Spieth, three majors in the charts including a British in 2017.

As for Tiger Woods, 37, after a 78 the day before he returned a good 70, for a total of 148 (+6), insufficient to pass the "cut" set to +1.

Rory McIlroy, crowned "king" of the British in 2014, fought well Friday with a trifle of seven birdies, but the bogey at the 13th hole made him miss the "cut" at once (+2).

Romain Langasque (-1) is currently the only French still in the running, Alexander Lévy (+2) and Mike Lorenzo-Vera (+8) having been eliminated. Benjamin Hébert has not finished his second round yet.
