Three students at the Emirates Private School in Abu Dhabi have devised a smart electronic system that allows cross-traffic signals to identify civil defense vehicles and ambulances, automatically open signals and close other tracks to help them reach accident sites or hospitals in less time and in a safe manner.

The innovation consists of two parts: the first is installed in the traffic lights and includes GPS devices with sensitive sensors to monitor the signals. In addition, the students, Fatima Ali, Maha Mohammed and Aram Mohammed, told Emirates Al Youm during their innovation presentation in the 2019 Innovations Competition in Abu Dhabi. Which are sent from Civil Defense vehicles and ambulance, the second part is a smart card placed in the ambulance and the driver presses the operation button to send a signal approaching the car from the intersection of the traffic signal.

The students emphasized that the system contributes greatly to reduce the response time and reduce the risk of accidents. The driver of the ambulance or the civil defense who faces a traffic congestion while moving to the scene or transporting people with pressure on the remote control button inside the vehicle, To open the light signal in front of it, thus facilitating traffic on the road.

The students pointed out that the new system can contribute to achieve rapid flow of traffic on the road while ambulances transporting the injured and rapid intervention in emergencies, and will be monitored from traffic rooms to take into account the safe traffic during the control of signs, Adjacent signals before the signal in question turns green, in addition to ensuring that the system is used by civil defense and ambulance drivers in emergency situations, and transporting patients and injured persons only.
