In Sudan, 24 hours after the signing of a political agreement between the military regime in Khartoum and the opposition, reservations and even criticism are being heard. Several members of the Alliance for Freedom and Change - the opposition coalition - have rejected the agreement, saying it is neither comprehensive nor representative. Negotiations should also resume this Friday on the various points remained unresolved. But everyone agrees that the hardest remains to be done.

For the observers, this agreement is only a first step towards a civilian government. There are still many points to be defined, such as the power of the sovereign council and the government.

Not to mention the outstanding issues: the immunity demanded by the military, the creation of a transitional parliament or the withdrawal of the militias present in Khartoum.

Especially since this first political agreement is not already unanimous. Some members of the opposition coalition have already rejected it. For the Communist Party, this is not a real transfer of power to the civil.

For various movements in Darfur, the marginalization of some populations, the refugee issue or the crimes committed in Darfur have not been addressed.

" There is still a lot of work to do, " said a Sudanese analyst, most of the points of contention must be addressed in a second round of negotiations to be opened in the coming days.

" The fact that the army has signed a first agreement is a positive point ," adds another researcher. But we must not have any illusions, the military will lead during the first 21 months of the transition and we may fear that they take the opportunity to divide the opposition and consolidate their power.

The three main armed movements in Darfur have all rejected the agreement

For them this text has been negotiated in a rush, under pressure from the international community, and is not inclusive.

We were not consulted before the signing of this document, regrets Mohamed Zakaria, spokesperson of the JEM, the Movement for Justice and Equality.

" We are all part of the coalition, we should all contribute to finding a solution. It's not normal for a small group to decide for everyone else. The question today is who signed this agreement ? Who gave them the authority to sign on behalf of the Sudanese people ? "

For these different groups, this political agreement only addresses the transfer of power from the military regime to civilians, not the real problems of the country, says Minni Minnawi, leader of the SLA, the Sudan Liberation Army: " They have never addressed the real problems of Sudan, they are only talking about a transfer of power to the civilian, but that is not the problem of the Sudanese. We must address the causes of the genocide in Darfur, the discrimination of certain communities, which has caused South Sudan to want its independence. All of this has to be discussed. "
