Young people in accompanied driving will be able to pass the examination of the driving license from the age of 17, and this as of Monday, announces in the columns of the Parisian the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner.
The minister will make three decrees applicable from Monday, to make the valuable sesame of drivers more accessible. "A fair society goes through an accessible license," says Christophe Castaner, who wants "to make the driver's license cheaper and less time consuming." These novelties are among the ten measures unveiled in May by Prime Minister Philippe Philippe, which repeated many tracks proposed by a report of the MEP Françoise Dumas LREM.

Thus, "young people who opt for accompanied driving will be able to pass the practical test of the license from the age of 17 years instead of 17 years and a half today," confirms the Minister of the Interior, recalling that 2018, "285,000 young people have chosen this formula which has proved its effectiveness with a pass rate on the first pass of 74.5% against 57.7% on average for all candidates."

However, Christophe Castaner assumes his refusal to allow young people to drive alone at 17 years. "To advance the age of the driving of a year presents an over-risk of important accident", notes it, before adding: "we will be able to rest the question in twelve months, with a little hindsight ".
Driving simulator training favored
The orders taken by the Minister of the Interior will also allow, as early as Monday, to promote training on driving simulator. From that date, explains Christophe Castaner, "in the 20 hours of compulsory training, the duration of learning on simulator goes from 5 hours to 10 hours". Finally, "the waiting time between obtaining the 'automatic box' permit and the possibility of turning it into a conventional permit" will be reduced to three months instead of six, the former government spokesman announced. In fact, those concerned will be able to access the full license more quickly against a 7-hour training in a driving school.
