Dead bodies were found about 10 kilometers from Bunia, capital of the province, Wednesday, July 17, causing the anger of young people.

At least eight people were killed by strangers, most of them beheaded about ten kilometers from Bunia, capital of Ituri province . Excited by the insecurity, the young people decided to parade through the streets of the city Wednesday, waving the head of one of the victims. They wanted to expose the remains in front of the official gallery of the city to challenge the local and national authorities .

Soon the situation degenerated and the police intervened. As a result of these clashes, two civilians were wounded, one of them by gunshot. Ten other civilians and four police officers were arrested, the source said. The scene shocked the inhabitants of Bunia. Activities were paralyzed and resumed normally only this Thursday.

The Alur community to which the victims belong has declared mourning for three days. For his part, provincial governor Jean Bamanisa Saidi assured the population of the authorities' determination to restore peace and said that steps are being taken to further secure Bunia.
