Putin has expanded the simplified regime for obtaining citizenship for the Donbass
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has expanded the number of Ukrainian citizens who can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. The corresponding decree of the head of state was published on the official portal of legal information.
Thus, Ukrainians who lived not only in “certain districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine”, but also residents of these regions as a whole, can count on obtaining citizenship.
Previously, only those who lived in self-proclaimed DNR and LC were able to use the simplified procedure.
In the spring, Putin signed a decree that simplified the acquisition of citizenship for certain categories of Ukrainians.
The president also signed a decree on the simplified receipt of Russian passports by residents of Donbass.
The EU allowed the possibility of considering the non-recognition of Russian passports issued to residents of Donbass.
