A century-old Palestinian struggle to liberate the land has turned into a struggle to empower Palestinian businessmen and police, according to an article by Joseph Mosaad on the Middle East Internet site.

The Oslo Accords led to the support of the Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip by ensuring that a large number of them are connected to the Oslo process at all levels and that a number of elites are closely linked to the "peace process" .

These classes include:

- A political elite to provide the Palestinian Authority with staff, most of whom are active in the Palestine Liberation Organization inside and outside Palestine.

- A bureaucratic layer to oversee the affairs of the population under the Palestinian Authority, composed of local and Palestinian staff returning from abroad.

- A security force to quell the Palestinian resistance that is active against Israel and Oslo, which is composed of former guerrilla fighters who later became mercenaries for Israel, and is mostly funded and trained by American and European officials.

- The staff of non-governmental organizations established by Americans and Europeans, consisting of former activists and intellectuals who participated in the first intifada.

- The business class who have returned from exile to benefit materially from the Oslo process, along with those living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, who make profits under occupation and even before the signing of the Oslo Accords.

Liberal system
The signing of the Oslo agreement was at the height of the hegemony of the international liberal order. The aim was to facilitate profit for Palestinian businessmen. The participation of educated elites in NGOs ensured the presence of junior administrative staff within the Palestinian Authority, To suppress the resistance of the regime.

After the Palestinian Authority was Israel's "arm" to suppress the Palestinian people through security coordination - described by President Mahmoud Abbas as the "sacred" job of the central authority - Israel and Trump now believe that the Palestinian Authority has exhausted its role and become Not necessary, it is time to make a "century deal."

Accordingly, the PA has one role, the same role that Oslo granted to the PLO, which was to approve the terms of the "deal", give power to the Palestinians and dissolve the political class, as well as hand over all the local authorities to its security services.

The deal - considered the final stage of the Oslo Accords - aims to establish the belief that what the Palestinian people need is businessmen and policemen, not an end to the Israeli occupation.

Continued coordination
The business class - which contributed significantly to convincing late leader Arafat in 1993 to sign the Oslo agreement - continues to coordinate its business with the Israelis.

While pro-business businessmen and thinkers have promised the Palestinian people that the peace process will contribute to the prosperity of the occupied territories, Jared Kouchner, the president's adviser, makes similar promises through his "deal".

In preparation for the Bahrain conference, an Israeli website last week revealed that IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi had met a Palestinian millionaire two months ago in Ramallah to discuss the current economic situation in the West Bank.

Not a championship
The refusal of the Palestinian Authority to attend the Bahrain conference two weeks ago was not a heroic act, but rather a desire to survive.

Since the aim of the "Deal of the Century" is to dissolve the political class within the Palestinian Authority, the latter chose to boycott the conference, while a few Palestinian businessmen attended it. The majority expressed their solidarity with the political class not to attend.

However, the Palestinian Authority is well aware that if the Americans and Israelis succeed in imposing a century deal, Palestinian businessmen and the Palestinian security services are likely to sacrifice the PA's political class and move forward maximizing their profits.
